I am SVP of Autonomy & AI at Motional.

Previously, I held roles at Cruise / GM as Distinguished Engineer, Principal Engineer, and Technical Advisor to the CTO. Before that, I ran robot perception and planning teams at Amazon. Earlier in my career, I led machine learning at Toyota Research Institute and Toyota Motor Corporation and worked as a senior roboticist at Google / Alphabet.

In a prior life, I was an equity derivatives trader at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo for 7 years, trading volatility both discretionarily and algorithmically.

I hold Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in robotics from Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute and BA & MA degrees in computer science from the University of Cambridge.
